12 students are selected to receive Medallions and $50
for outstanding accomplishments. They are interviewed
and from the 12 Medallion recipients, 4 are selected
as Gateway East Young Achievers of the Year. The 4

The
Gateway East Young Achievers program includes the Illinois
counties of Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin,

recognizes students in grades 5-9 who are successful achievers
in a variety of areas, leaders who are appointed and/or

and communities and competent scholars with good attendance
records.
All Gateway East Young Achievers have the opportunity to
be featured in a photographic Showcase display and receive
a free photograph from sponsors Cedarleaf Photography, Belleville,

of their recognition will be sent to their school and to
community newspapers. All will receive Certificates of Recognition during a special awards program at McKendree University in Lebanon, IL on April 29, 2012. Final deadline for nominations is February 8, 2012.
